Autoshipping How can you do it? .
There are few ways you can transport your car to your new home:
- You can drive it there
- You can rent car dolly, or flatbed car platform and tow it behind your rental truck
- You can trust your mover to do it for you
- You can hire a professional car carrier. They will transport it for you on an open or enclosed trailer. Enclosed carrier recommended if your have exotic, expensive car.
If your household goods mover
will sign up to deliver the car for you he will most probably use the car-dolly or flatbed, and he would transport it the same way you could.
This way your car is not insured and accidents or damages can happen anytime. Movers will charge you the same amount as a car carrier for the service or more.
The only advantage is that you will get your car at the same time as your shipment.

Car carrier
will need to know the make and year of your car and origin and destination.
They will quote you the price right over the phone.
If you agree they will fax you the contract.
To schedule pick up of your car you will need to pay a deposit.
Amount of deposit (about 50%) and method of payment depends on the carrier.
Balance is paid on delivery.
After the carrier received your deposit they will schedule the pick up, usually within a week. If the carrier you hired local they can pick up on the date you request, if the carrier is not local they will give you a date.
Once the car is picked up it takes about 2 weeks for delivery. Usually carrier will give you 12-24 hr notice when they actually arrive.
Make sure you are there to receive the car and you prepared cash payment for the balance; otherwise you might be charged terminal storage charges and redelivery fee.
